South East Forum
South East Forum

The South East Forum (SEF) is a partnership of 18 colleges and universities in the South East of Scotland. It is one of four wider access regional forums established in 1999 by the Scottish Funding Council and aims to help the SFC deliver on priorities in ‘Learning for All’ (2005).

SEF’s vision is to improve the life chances of disadvantages groups for a more successful and inclusive Scotland and to widen access to opportunities provided by further and higher education.

Routes 2 Success is one of the programmes that are funded to help the South East Forum achieve its vision.

Careers Scotland
Careers Scotland

Skills Development Scotland delivers skills, careers and learning support activities for individuals and employers in Scotland.

Formed in April 2008 by merging Careers Scotland, learndirect scotland and key skills elements from Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise, the organisation has 1,400 staff based throughout Scotland with headquarters in Glasgow.

It helps people to realise their full potential, supports employers to success through skills development and works in partnerships at national, regional and local level to enhance Scotland’s economic performance.

Careers Advisers support the Project Manager with group work in participating schools and colleges.

Edinburgh's Telford College
Edinburgh's Telford College

Edinburgh’s Telford College has been working with the Edinburgh secondary schools in S1 to S3 on the Routes 2 Success programme for a number of years.
Pupils attend college for a half day and participate in workshops such as Construction, IT, Hairdressing and Creative Arts, which allow them the opportunity to experience a vocational area of interest and gives them a flavour of college life.
We also offer Tours which are conducted by our student ambassadors.   This allows the pupils the opportunity to talk with the students and the staff about courses available as a career options, as well as general information on the College and the services and facilities that are available.

Borders College
Borders College

Borders College have been working with the Routes 2 Success programme for a number of years with a number of secondary schools in the Scottish Borders area.

We aim to give pupils some insight in to life at Borders College and what is offered in terms of courses and the wider college experience. Pupils can experience different workshop activities covering the different college departments letting them see the options and choices available.

West Lothian College

West Lothian College’s College Schools Partnership provides young people between S3 and S6 at high school with the opportunity to sample further education to help them make informed choices about their future.

Courses range from vocational, practical courses such as Beauty Therapy and Motor Vehicle to SQA Highers such as Higher Psychology.

All qualifications offered through the College Schools Partnership are recognised nationally by universities and employers and support progression to further and higher education.

Oatridge College
Oatridge College

Oatridge College is situated in the countryside in West Lothian and we deliver courses that have something in connection with the land.

We can give you real experiences of working a wide range of landbased industries such as farming (on our farm), horticulture (growing plants or running a garden centre), landscaping (designing gardens and practical garden layouts), managing the countryside ( as a countryside ranger), Sportsturf and Greenkeeping (looking after grass playing surfaces like football parks and golf courses), animal care (looking after animals – from hamsters to horses), horse studies (managing stables and working with horses) and engineering (working with tractors and landbased machinery).

At our specialist countryside college you can see what is really involved in these industries and talk to our friendly tutors about the kinds of jobs that are available in the countryside and rural environment.

Forth Valley College
