The Activities
If you’re in S2 and go to one of the schools that Routes 2 Success works in, you might get selected to take part in the workshops we run in school. Each workshop lasts roughly 1 hour and there are 3 workshops in total, spread out throught the school year. Here’s a sneaky peak at what’s in store for you. A full copy of the workbook is available by following the link http://routes2success.s3.amazonaws.com/assets/19/original.pdf
Workshop 1
We want to get to know you a bit better! We’ll tell you:
- who we are
- why we’re here
- why you’ve been selected to take part
- how often you will see us
- what we’ll be doing that day
- just because you’ve come to this workshop doesn’t mean that you’re signing up to go to college. We just want to give you a bit more information about college so you’re better informed when the time comes to make some decisions about your future.
- You'll find out how good you are at following instructions with our simple test.
- How to complete the college enrolment form in advance of us going on the college visit.
- How to play the “All About You Wheel” in the games section of the Routes 2 Success website. The Wheel will ask you 12 questions All About You and how you feel about school and beyond.
- Have some fun with the stand up sit down game, getting you to match what you enjoy doing with aspects of different college courses.
Workshop 2
- Differences and similarities between school and college
- What makes a good student
- What kind of people go to college
- What does an average student look like?
Workshop 3
- Finding out more about you and what you’re good at
- Using prospectuses
- Matching what you’re good at with what’s on offer at college
- Challenging comfort zones
- Looking at timetables
Campus Visit
- Half day visit to a local college
- Meeting college staff and students
- Having a look around the college
- Taking part in some exciting workshops
